What weather radio should have to be ON all the time in order for you to get alerts. This one, apparently. If you live in a part of the country where weather is volatile, get used to hearing the drone of NOAA ALL THE TIME. Nope. While this device has lots of handy little doo-dads, like a siren (for distress calls) and a solar panel and reading lights, it really falls down on its main purpose: sitting in silence until there is a weather alert. Sending it back. What's worse, no instructions come with it. On-line manual, downloaded, is sub-par. The customer service line dropped my calls immediately. I am seriously annoyed and disappointed by this product --- and I'm in a the middle of a dangerous storm pattern, here.
