DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT purchase this item!! At first very happy with my purchase... but slowly things started going wrong with my kindle. It would stop then reboot on it's own and return to the wrong page, requiring 5 minutes more or less to get to my original page. I was constantly rebooting on my own because it would freeze. This would require keeping my reset button depressed for a minimum of 30 seconds... the problems just got worse and more frequent. I replaced my kindle twice! Then finally called for another replacement and in frustration told the "kindle specialist" ...."I can't figure out what the common denominator is".... Then she asked me to describe the cover I was using... I told her and she said ...."there's your common denominator!! She directed me to take the cover off immediately. It appears the prongs interfer with the circuitry causing the problems I mentioned before. She reimbursed me for the cost of the cover and gave me an additional $25 credit so I could purchase the same cover, but with the light. This new cover was designed differently. The light is perfect and requires no batteries. It runs off the power of the Kindle. The specialists know about this problem and apparently so does Amazon. Kindle did not design this cover... this I was told by the specialist. I fly for a living and have come across a few passengers who are using the old cover and without fail they all say they have been having trouble (exactly the same trouble I was having. I hope they took my advise and contacted Kindle. Do yourself a favor either buy the model with the light or an entirely different cover without the prongs. I love my Kindle and my new cover!!
