My husband and I purchased three of these units in January. One for our NEW BABY's room(!), one for our bedroom and one for my husband's office. In April, one of the units malfunctioned, horrible burning plastic smell - burning and still running - just as previous reviewers stated. Since it was passed Amazon's 30 day return policy - they would not take it back. I called Germ Guardian and they wanted me to ship it back to them and they would send a new one. So I take myself to UPS with the baby to get a box and return this thing..... such a pain in the neck. Fast forward to today. Randomly - the SECOND one smelled like horrible burned plastic and was still running!!!!! The burning plastic smell is still lingering five hours later as I type this. Thank God that we were home and awake when this happened. It could have burned my house down. So I thought the first one was a fluke - an error or mistake. But seriously - a second one almost catching fire. These things are SO dangerous and should be banned. Fool me once - shame on you. Fool me twice - shame on me.
