Cheap DVD drive and seemed like a quick fix to burn some downloaded music to a CD. Arrived quickly, packaged well. It just doesn't work. Tried it first with a USB 3.0 hub. The light comes on the drive, but pressing the button does nothing. After pressing it a couple of times the light actually went out. Unplugging and plugging back in juiced it up again but it just goes out again. Next I tried plugging directly into my Surface Pro USB. No adapter or anything, just a direct connection. Same result. I tried using Windows Media Player and PowerDVD. Drive isn't recognized. Checked the Windows drivers and everything appears to be up to date. It even looks like the drive is showing in the hardware list. No noise, no spinning, can't open the disc drive. If you pick it up and move it around the little light shuts off and you have to unplug/plug again. Another gripe is that the USB cord is hard-wired into the drive and it's like 6-8" long. If you're right handed and using a laptop with USB ports on the right side you'll have to find someplace to put the drive if you use a mouse. I went ahead and ordered an LG for a little more money. Amazon's return policy is decent other than having to drop it off at a UPS Store. Especially when there's a truck that could grab it when making delivery almost every other day.
