I purchased the Intellichlor IC-40 along with many other Pentair items for my new pool. This is the first review I have written. I installed this unit and everything appeared to be functioning ok. After a few days I still had no chlorine in my pool. I ended up shocking it while I tried to determine what was the cause of low chlorine. I ended up calling Pentair to help me. Every phone call I made took at least 20-30 minutes to get a rep on the phone. When I did get a rep on the phone they began to instantly blame my pool levels as the problem. I ended up spending literally weeks adding chemicals to reach the unattainable "perfect" levels that Penatir requred to further troubleshoot. I was told that my phosphates were too high for this chlorinator to work when my levels were at 100. 100 parts per billion! I was told that my cya being at 60 was the cause. As I tried to correct this everyone I talked to said that the levels did not make a difference and would not cause the chlorinator not to work. In the middle of all this troubleshooting it was determined that I also had a faultly led on my unit. To make a long story short, I was FINALLY able to get a tech out to investigate the led issue since they couldnt blame that on my pool chemical levels. The tech replaced the unit and within 1 day my chlorine was stabilized with the new unit. The new unit is in and it seems to work great. I believe in Pentair products but their service is TERRIBLE. Not one rep documented me calling in. Not one phone call was EVER returned despite their promises. The techs were very short with me and could care less. Im sure they are overworked but cmon, your customers are the reason you have a damn job! Wake up Pentair!! Bottom line....If customer service is important to you then go with Hayward. The working IC-40 is working great but what does it take to get to that point?? I spent 5 weeks calling Pentair and begging them to come replace my unit and they only did because they ran out of excuses not to. By the way pentair, just because your led states that chlorine is being generated, it doesnt mean that it is. Where do you get your training??
