This drive is complete garbage! I tested the drive with H2Testw and during the first 2 minutes the drive gets close to advertised speeds then immediately drops off. The drive gets so hot it slows down big time! I've seen the manufacture reply to some reviews here that complained about the speed drop and they say that's normal because that's how protection works. Well, true, that's how protection works but FALSE, that is NOT normal!!!! After copying only 10GB of data the drive drops down to 27MBps write and 180MBps read. That is flat out unacceptable. If all you are going to do is copy tiny little files then you don't need a 512GB drive. If you are going to read and write large files then this thing will take forever! It took over 5 hours to fill the drive. FIVE HOURS!!! So yeah, it's slowing down to protect itself from overheating but the fact it gets that hot in the first place is totally nuts and a major fail! Take a look at Samsung's BAR Plus 256GB. It maintains it's full speed throughout the entire 256GB, takes about 20 minutes to fill up and never gets past warm. So double that. Do you want 40 minutes for 512GB or OVER FIVE HOURS!?!? The choice is clear. This product is garbage. I'm sending it back for two Samsungs. EDIT: As I expected. Their garbage cut and paste reply. With the added lie that this happens to all flash drives. WRONG!!!! The vast majority of all flash drives do NOT get this crazy insane hot.
