When the gas in my building had to be turned off last February, I ordered this hot plate and I have used it daily. The hot plate works well enough, but an important safety feature is missing. A light goes on when the individual plate starts heating, but it goes off when the heat level is reached. In other words, while the burner may be at 5 (high), there is no indication that it is hot (other than that the contents of the pot may be bubbling). If you finish cooking and forget to turn the dial back to “Minimum,” the burner may stay on and there is no indication that it is still very hot. The danger for a bad burn or fire is clear. The hot plate needs a separate light that shines when the device is on and goes out only when both heating units are turned off.
