This is a decent book on it's own merits, I'll give you that. But I think the original "Twelve and Twelve" by Bill W.'s deep descriptions are much better personally, but whatever. What miffs me about this is that the authors pulled a cheap shot by co-opting the title of a very famous (well, it used to be until this) talk by Richard "Sandy" Beach on the very same subject. In fact, it was the defining, single most important talk of his life, his "New Pair of Glasses," if you will. YES, I get it that this book was published in 2005 and that Sandy left this dimension in 2014, but he was way too nice of a guy to ever say what I am saying now. And what gives me the right to say it? Sandy was my very first sponsor in 1987. So maybe I know something about this. Sandy Beach, one of the greatest AA speakers to have ever lived (and I don't just say that because he was my first sponsor) didn't deserve this. It's a shame that it had to happen like this and that Sandy's life-saving and life-changing talk (the REAL "drop the rock" talk) is being buried and forgotten right along with Sandy himself, in large part because of this book. The people who compiled this work could have least have added a message, a dedication, an appendix, something, explaining or pointing to Sandy's original. Last time I looked, I didn't see it. Please correct me if I am wrong and this review will DRASTICALLY change. It breaks my heart. Have they no shame? I cannot reward just a bait-and-switch like this that is supposedly about God? Give me a break. God-fearing people would have never stomped on Sandy's memory like this. Please, look up the talk by Sandy Beach by the same name, listen to it, compare it to this and be amazed. And yes, it's about Step 6 and 7 also and came WAY before this book. I truly believe you'll at least see my point. Much of this is copied almost verbatim from his shares and his talks and without due credit or respects. They could have named this book anything else and it wouldn't have mattered if they liberally borrowed from Sandy, but no, they didn't. They had to ride Sandy's coattails by using the exact same name as his signature talk on the same subject, without credit and thus do, from what I can see and experience, real damage to his memory. I'm only sharing this because it hurts. I love Sandy very much. He saved my life. SOMEBODY has to be the minority opinion so for this elephant in the room to be properly called out, let it begin with me, That being said, I will find my sources on how to obtain spiritual INTEGRITY elsewhere. These authors have none. Beware of wolves in sheep's clothing. I'm sorry, but with this backstory, I cannot give this more than one star. I wish I could. My heart breaks over this. NO resentment here, just for the life of me cannot understand why they would do something like this to Sandy if they actually had the best of intentions.
