Mineral filter stopped working
System was pretty straightforward to install and didn’t give me much trouble aside from a few of the fasteners were loose so a few hoses weren’t as tight as they could’ve been. The issue is they claim that it adds minerals and increases Ph levels.
The Ph levels at first were in the high 11’s, then as time went on (month and a half now since I’ve purchased) the Ph levels dropped to barely above 9. I don’t have an issue with this, however, the “minerals” that were supposed to be in the water ARE NOT. I have a few TDS (total dissolved solids) meters that measure particles in the water at PPM (parts per million). Our tap water (dependent on where you’re located and I’m in Southern California) reads a little above 200ppm, “bad water” is typically 400+ppm and reverse osmosis filtered water (considered “dead water” since it has been filtered of literally just about anything you can find in water) is typically under 50ppm.
This water first measured at 150ppm which wasn’t bad, and lasted like that for a week. Then it began reading below 100ppm which I figured is the filter starting to level off. A few more weeks in it began reading at 50ppm and stayed there for awhile and I figured that was optimal. NOW the water reads LESS THAN 30PPM. I have attached pictures of a reading from REGULARLY FILTERED REVERSE OSMOSIS WATER (13ppm) that you can fill locally and a reading from this system (21ppm). Ultimately, the water IS being filtered and the Ph levels are higher, but don’t pay the extra $ for the mineral filter since it is doesn’t seem to work.
