★★☆☆☆
Boring and shallow
This is honestly my least favorite out of the entire series, which is astounding considering it focuses on two of my most favorite characters.
The biggest weakness of this book was the editing. It would have benefited a great deal from a stronger editor who makes the author actually answer their own plot questions, and who could have given the whole thing a more unified and focused flow. Several sections didn't actually advance the plot in anyway, didn't contribute to the growth of the characters or their relationship, and were boring.
It also deviated from the previous books in the romance pacing. Where as the MF main couple would have slept together at least once by half-way through the book (in fairly graphic detail), suddenly the best Singh can do is a few chaste kisses and no actual "I love you" declaration right at the very end? That feels purposeful, forced, and honestly queer-baity. If you're going to write a love story for a MM couple, then write one in the same style you write you others. Or don't write it at all.
If, for whatever reason, you're not actually comfortable with that? Get them together in the background of another couple's book. Solves all the problems. Was so looking forward to this release, and am so super disappointed.
