Warranty not honored
My unit started tripping my home breaker after 16 months. I contacted customer support and there were a number of things they wanted me to check. The wire size, connections, proper breaker, etc. I did all that and even replaced the breaker. Still failed. They sent a troubleshooting guide and I followed all the steps again. The guide stated I can ignore tearing off the label in order to get inside the unit. I opened the unit and took the voltages across the heater elements, which were correct, and did an ohm test on each of the heater elements. The heater elements were out of spec. (as told to me by the support staff). When I had the unit open I found that one of the heater elements was ice cold when the unit was operating. It wasn't even warm. This seemed to explain one thing I had seen using the unit. It would never heat the water higher than 109. I assumed it was the temperature of the incoming water and that was as hot it could get the water. I didn't have a problem with that since 109 is still too hot to take a shower.
I let the support know what I found. He gave me his number and asked to call and he would send out a new unit. I called, got a message he was in a meeting. Left a message with all my contact info but never received a call back. Sent another email. Now they asked me to check the elements for corrosion or dirty. I did that. They looked fine. Mind you, this is taking a lot of time. Turning off the water, taking out the elements, putting them back in, etc. Luckily, no leaks after.
I sent a few emails requesting a new unit and have not heard back since. This has been going on for weeks.
All in all, this was a pretty bad purchase. It never really worked properly and then when it caused issues with my home they were not honoring the warranty. Wouldn't recommend buying this unit.
