I own many pieces of cast iron. I have used cast iron since I was a girl, and that was a long time ago. The piece comes coated in wax, which immediately presents itself as a difficulty because you have to melt the wax off and it's not like you want to wash wax down your sink and ruin your plumbing. So then I find a large enough plastic container that I can fill with scalding hot water and attempt to melt off the wax and scrub it all off. I then noticed that the interior of the iron is completely rough. This tells me that the quality of the mold is crap. When you are dealing with cast iron you really want a smooth surface to cook on. I pushed forward, and began the seasoning process. That is when I noticed that the pits did not help at all. I cooked one test waffle and realized that this was never going to work. I sent it back and, because it was used, I was given $0.98 as a refund . I was also told that I must not know what I am doing and that it is my job as a consumer to know what I am buying. I know how to use cast iron, and I also know quality when I see it. This product is not quality, maybe other customers have had a better batch sent to them or maybe the quality of the mold has gone downhill recently? I absolutely would never buy this product again.
