Bad software makes this cable redundant.
A cable that functions by it's own description... only to be let down by Garmin's own software.
You see, the "parking mode videos" go into it's own folder on the SD card. Those videos ARE NOT part of the deletion cycle. So, what does this mean you ask? Well, what's SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN is when your SD card gets full, your dash cam pushes the oldest video off the end to make way for the new. Rinse and repeat. Standard stuff.
Garmin's software, though, DOES NOT DELETE, the parked videos and ONLY the driving videos. This ultimately means your SD card gets so full with parked videos it bullies the "driving videos" to the extent that there's only ever 3 minutes worth of "driving videos" at any one time. The only way to circumvent this is by manually deleting the videos every few days... and who's gonna do that?! Well, Garmin Support said this is only way around it. Pffft.
This is such a simple fix for Garmin. It could be pushed out on a firmware update to all devices - but no. This problem has persisted for years. I've had to SWITCH OFF the parking mode in order to remedy the issue - so there's little point in buying this cable in the first place.
Bottom line? A waste of money - and dumbfounding given it's all made by the same company...
(Used with GARMIN DASH CAM 45)
