Coffeemaker does make a good cup of coffee, but the hotplate rusted for me within 3 months! My previous Cuisinart didn't show any real wear or rust on it for years and years. I could never figure out how water was getting on it. I air and hand dry the carafe and leave the lid of the maker up during the day to prevent mold. Conair (parent company) did offer to replace it, however, they required me to pay $10 for the new one to be shipped and they required me to ship the defective one back. That cost a whopping $29.99! So I wouldn't recommend this unit because it cost me an additional $39.99 after just a few months under their "warranty". UPDATE: Wrote customer service after I saw so many others had this issue and asked for the shipping refunded. They replied their warranty doesn't cover shipping. Changed my rating to one star for the product company combination.
