It reminds me of George Lucas and the Star Wars prequels --- this giant production with unimaginable momentum and immense cultural significance that it can't possibly fail, except for the minor fact that the person at the center of it all is a failure. For anyone who woke up on November 9th wondering "Why? How?", this book will answer that for you. It is a very interesting read for those of us who followed the 2016 election closely, for the people who refreshed the Drudge Report several times a day hoping for a new poll result or bombshell. The only thing that bothered me reading it was the subtext that it was inexplicable that Hillary faced obstacles. Umm... I'm pretty sure every candidate since (and including) George Washington faced criticism, challenges, revelations, betrayals, misunderstandings, etc. Evidently, because she is a woman, she should have been swept to office with 100% of the vote and no one uttering a word. I don't recall Sarah Palin enjoying such immunity, so we can conclude that double-X chromosomes don't impart invincibility. This isn't North Korea. We do have primaries and people get criticized, fairly or not. The Clintons attacked Jerry Brown in 1992 and Obama in 2008 and Bernie Sanders in 2016, so she shouldn't and couldn't have expected complete loyalty from Democrats. No one should have been surprised it wasn't a simple coronation the day she announced she was running. Maybe since Obama enjoyed more loyalty she thought it would transfer to her? I was also hoping for more detail of Election Night and the aftermath. Oh, to have a video of the moment she knew it was over! I would pay $1000 just to watch it once. Anyway... it's worth a read. Democrats will get closure, Republicans will get schadenfreude, and everyone else can marvel at the train wreck. Maybe Harry Plinkett can do a review.
