You don't know this until you read the installation instructions, but they indicate your water has to be sanitized prior to going through these filters because they are NOT like real Berkey filters. They do not filter small contaminants like bacteria and viruses like Berkey filters do. I am REALLY annoyed because this was basically $90 down the drain and returning the product is not an option. This is false advertising and Amazon is doing nothing to help or intervene. Don't waste your money on these filters...spend the extra for the real thing or at least make sure you're getting water purification filters.
