This was my second purchase. The first one lasted a year using it consistently multiple times a day. I gave it the benefit of the doubt, blaming myself for it's premature demise. This second purchase lasted a few months then died. The carafe is beautiful. The blue glow is very NICE! However, there is something assuredly wrong with the base which is where the heating of the water takes place. Two machines died with the identical problem. I have switched to Secura SWK-1701DB The Original Stainless Steel Double Wall Electric Water Kettle 1.8 Quart - it isn't as pretty, but it has worked very well for the past 5 months. A friend of mine saw mine. Bought one for herself. Her machine died too recently. It's so nice in appearance. I just wish it would last.
