Having come from using the DEWALT D26453K series (it's predecessor) in a commercial environment and after buying at least now 5 of the DWE64XX series sanders, I can definitively tell you this: For the same money you get half the machine. This is a complete step down and only to save costs on manufacturing. There is no "new and improved", it's literally - "This is how we make a better profit" The clutch fails, the bearing fail. The pad is plastic, not metal. The housing isn't nearly as thick or glass reenforced. I can find not a single thing that was a benefit to the user in this design change. Normally I would be "Oh, they skimped on this but look over here." Nope. Not a single thing. Even worse because of the way the housing is now made, there are a lot of parts you can't replace from normal wear and tear. (Which, btw, I'm happy to do with a quality product.) I'm giving it 2 stars because while it is a piece of junk you will get 2 stars worth of sanding out of it. However if you want something for your money go somewhere else. We are.
