Beware!! Read before you buy!
I've been eyeing & researching acrylic makeup drawers for a while and was impressed by this products price point. Most 'high end' (i.e. The ones the Kardashian's use- glambox) start around $200. The high price is supposedly because of the acrylic. My first issue with this product is that IT IS NOT ACRYLIC!! The title and description say acrylic, but under 'compare similar items' (see photo) it reveals the product is actually plastic. For $25, I honestly don't really care if it's plastic, however, I think it's wrong to list a product with the incorrect material. It says acrylic TWICE in the headline but it is actually made out of plastic. I thought Amazon did a better job on policing bait-and-switch products, but I guess not. If you still want to buy a PLASTIC makeup organizer, keep reading. I was nervous about ordering this despite the low price because quite a few other reviews said the product arrived damaged. I decided to go for it anyway. It arrived double boxed, cradled in styrofoam. Everything on the outside looked okay, there were no major exterior cracks or chips like some reviews showed. It was late, so I quickly filled it before bed. It sat untouched overnight. In the morning I went to show my mom the product and as I'm pulling out a drawer, we notice that there's a sizeable crack. There is no way the makeup I put in it 12 hours earlier could have cracked it. The crack was inside the plastic not exterior (see photos). As I pulled out the other drawers in the daylight, I noticed some of them had scratches on them. The second left hand drawer is also not aligned correctly with the others and it makes a lot of noise when opening/closing it. I took a video but I apparently can't upload it. So I promptly emailed Amazon about this since cracking within the product seems to be common. They didn't ask for a photo of the damage. The response back was that "this doesn't usually happen" and I could keep the damaged product with a 20% refund or return for a full refund. The "this usually doesn't happen" irked me and prompted me to write this review. It clearly does happen often judging by my experience and the other reviews. I'm not a plastic expert, but many plastic products are now shipped with a clear sticker that you peel off to ensure your product arrives in perfect condition. I still don't think that would fix the internal crack, but would certainly help with the scratches. After all of that, my point really is to warn anyone buying this that they are in fact buying a PLASTIC product. The product is indeed sturdy as the other reviews say, because it's made of thick PLASTIC. Because it is PLASTIC the drawers are noisy and cumbersome to pull out and will scratch very easily. Mine arrived imperfect, like many of the other reviews. This is not a standard I come to expect from Amazon, in addition to the misleading headline. Final verdict: $25 for a PLASTIC makeup organizer is still a great deal. But, this organizer is compareable to a Rubbermaid organizer rather than a high quality glam box type product. Don't expect Amazon to help you when it arrives imperfect. (note: While acrylic is a plastic, not all plastic is acrylic. The term "acrylic" represents a family of petroleum-based thermoplastics made from the derivation of natural gas. Another common name for acrylic is "polyacrylate" which is one of the most common types. This material is made from Methyl Methacrylate (MMA), Poly Methyl Methacrylate, or a combination of both. ACRYLIC AND PLASTIC PRODUCTS DO NOT HAVE EQUALITY IN QUALITY. It would be like saying a Ford is the same as a Mercedes.)
