Updated : radio was working great for 5 weeks. Few days ago the receiver front end went out - 3 days outside the return window from Amazon. For everyone who dogs this radio - you miss the entire point of amateur radio. This is a cheap option that performs well, gets people interested, and is a very capable performing radio. Don't be mad you paid 5 times as much for an "american made" Kenwood which is still just made in China - this thing works well. The scanning function is kind of slow when looking for signals, but when you have a channel programmed, it is much faster. I've hit repeaters 30 miles away with it - it just works. Audio isn't bad, signal on a spectrum analyzer isn't bad, either really. It just works. Great value. But, order the programming cable and upgrade the antenna.
