I am writing this review 7 months after my initial purchase and one and half months after getting an exchange/replacement from Calphalon. I asked for a replacement when, after several months use, my wok bottom exterior all but disintegrated, exposing large areas of raw aluminum; the rim also began to show similar loss of coating in some places. I thought at that time that perhaps I just got a defective unit, and I requested and got a replacement. However, this replacement unit is doing the very same thing. So on 7/15, I sent Calphalon the following email: “I am not writing to ask for yet another replacement: I just want to show you what this wok is like after less than one month's use (see attached). During this time, I have been quite careful to keep to medium heat and to heat up slowly; you can't really do stir fry on very low heat, you know. I did continue to wash it in a dishwasher since it is supposed to be dishwasher safe. But by now, I have reluctantly concluded this wok is just not safe for gas range stove top cooking, or else it is not dishwasher safe, and I am giving up on it. I do think, however, that Calphalon should stop representing it as gas cooking and dishwasher safe. When I get around to it, I intend to post a review on Amazon to warn off other buyers who want to use this product on a gas range and wash it in a dishwasher.” So, this is what I am doing.
