Not an upgrade over the Maxlite2
Let me start by saying I am a Travelpro fan. So why only 2 stars? Because I recently had th Maxlite2 22 inch roll aboard and loved it. It is super light, sturdy, fits in all domestic overheads when placed top first and while it does tip it doesn't always (mostly when expanded). Sadly, the wheel on my Maxlite2 broke (after about 8 months of around the world travel) and Travelpro warranty stated the wheel is on 6 week backorder. So I figured I'd just upgrade to the new Maxlite3 and continue my happiness. Wrong! There are 2 main issues with this bag that make it much worse than the Maxlite2, The Maxlite 3 is 1" shorter than the Maxlite2. Same width and depth however. So you lose 1" (which can be a good thing or bad thing depending on your preference). But since both fit in all domestic overheads I prefer the extra inch. Although the specs state they are the same, they are absolutely not. See my pic. Finally, the Maxlite2 leans back when standing while the Maxlite 3 stands straight (see pic where I lined them up at the wheels and you'll see what I mean). What this means is the Maxlite3 tips forward and on to the floor always, even when not expanded. The Maxlite2 tipped only when expanded. While still a good bag overall it is not an "upgrade" over the Maxlite2.
