The smell gave it away - just mildly pepperminty, with other bitter overtones, but, having used Mentha Piperita for decades, this smelt coarse, oily and "heavy". I looked MORE carefully at the label. Lo and behold - it was Mentha Arvensis. The product you receive is the BYPRODUCT of Menthol extraction, as M. Arvenis is naturally very high in Menthol. THIS is the dementholised oil, which cheapskate companies use as inexpensive, rather harsh, and not particularly aromatic, peppermint-like oil. I am returning it, and hope that someone else finds this review useful!
