Last night the FDA released a list of food brands and ingredients that are likely causing Canine DCM. A severe heart condition that can be fatal. Once diagnosed they must undergo treatment for the remainder of their lives. Unfortunately the second worst offending ingredient said to be causing this illness is within the top five ingredients in this food. It is believed that these ingredients are reducing necessary Taurine levels in dogs which causes DCM. Since I have been feeding my dog this for years and she is one of the top breeds on the list of dogs who have been diagnosed with this illness I went into her vet today for a checkup and to schedule a heart echo exam to insure she has not developed DCM. A friend of mine has a dog who did develop this illness on one of the brands on the FDA list. So I'm very concerned but hoping for the best. I am attaching charts released by the FDA showing data on breeds who developed this illness, and the food type/ ingredients that were present in the foods connected to cases of Canine DCM. I hope Dimond Naturals removes these ingredients and proves that their food is providing the proper Taurine levels to prevent the untimely death of many incredible and loved dogs. I have disposed of the three month supply of Diamond Naturals I had purchased. And even our local shelter has also disposed of the foods they had with these ingredients since the FDA released their statement yesterday. 6-28-19 I hope that the company removes this ingredient from their formula. It was the best food for the price but it's not worth my dogs life.
