28 Summers was on my birthday list - I really enjoy Hilderbrand’s writing style and looked forward to a beautiful and fun escape during our most horrible summer. Wish I had asked for a different title. Like many reviewers, I found the political dimension annoying and the Kavanaugh replay sickening. Her female characters were especially void of strength and common sense. What woman in her right mind would put up with a one weekend a year fling, with someone else’s husband - for 28 years?? I requested the book based on enjoying Hilderbrand for years. I did not know the premise of the book and thought I would enjoy anything from this talented author. After all, when one is under house arrest... But Elin is so Woke! Adultery is no problem, casual unprotected sex on a golf course is no problem, living a lie is no problem. The author’s political leanings made their way into practically every aspect of her novel which grew tiresome. Shut up and write, Elin. Spare me your leftest agenda.
