Why you should NOT BUY this humidifier
I got warm mist humidifier because I was told cool mist humidifier can spread germs. This is true but everything else are wrong. First of all, the one star is not for this machine but to all manufactures of the same type of machine. Also I purchased humidity meter with this one and I did calibrated the meter with salt test twist. I will tell more later.
Cons
1. It can't be used with essential oils. This machine has reservoir for aroma therapy but it will not work with essential oil. Because it use the warm midst to warm the oil but the midst is not that warm. I can put my hand over it. No harm done. It's a kind of warm and cool. The warm is from the midst that make your skin moist and you feel cool from the air. If you want to use with essential oil get the diffuser type. The one that the heating part is on top of water tank and the oil cup in the same spot with the heating element that boil the water. I had that type of humidifier before.
2. Power consumption. When I used diffuser/humidifier type, I lived in an apartment with electric included. But now I pay the bill. I got the humidifier at the end of December. The first picture is the electric usage in January. I probably used it about 20-25 nights for the month. The second pic is for Febuary usage. I probably used about 10-15 nights.
3. Maintenance. As many reviews here and per user manual, you need to clean it dairy and weekly. After about 10 nights of use, I wanted to see how bad it is. I was chocked. The amount of mineral deposit was way more than I aspects. This issue is about your water quality. I live in big city. The tap is about 125ppm from my TDS tester.
Someone here recommend use distilled water. So it is about one gallon per night. How many gallons you need to buy and carry it home for the winter?
All type of humidifiers need to be clean regularly.
4. Not Dry Air therapy. You get humidifier because the air is too dry in the winter.
I was curious about how many type of humidifier they have. So I visited manufacture website. I came across product comparison to help you choose which type best for your need. There is one category on the list. "Dry Air". This machine will not improve humidity level in my room. Confirmed with my humidity meter. I have full size bed. The humidifier on one side about 2 ft. from the bed. The humidity meter is on the other side next to the bed about 1 ft above the bed. After hours on high setting. The meter never change.
But it help to breath easier in the morning compare to without one (no stuffy nose in the morning ). If you reason of buying one to raise humidity level in your room to prevent damage to your stuffs from the air is too dry. This type of machine is NOT for You.
