I had basically the same model KitchenAid mixer for 50 years. It was wonderful. It started making 'motor problem' noise so I figured it was time for a new one. I bought this one as a treat and to be sure I had a mixer to bake for the holidays. The first time I used it, the beater wasn't at the right level (too high) - no problem, I lowered it according to instructions. But when I went to release the bowl, it wouldn't release easily and I had to call my husband to help so I could put the batter into the pans. I wasn't happy but figured it was a 'break in' period. Today, the bowl not only wouldn't release EASILY, neither I nor my husband could get it to release, so I had to work around the head to get the batter into the baking pan. Afterwards, when we still couldn't get the empty bowl free, we took a rubber mallet and tried banging the handle of the bowl, which immediately came off - a TERRIBLE weld job - and only were able to get the bowl off by banging DOWN on the bowl and putting graphite in the base. I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY OLD MIXER - FOR 50 YEARS. This one sucks. Kitchen Aid - be ashamed - be very ashamed.
