It make ice cream well enough. Though if it's is fill close to 3/4 ways up or more, the consistency of the ice cream suffers greatly. But overall, it can make pretty good ice cream if fill the right level. My issue with the machine is that the canister started to smell like bad dairy after a few month of use. Even though we cleaned it very thoroughly and sanitized it with food grade sanitizer solution every time. We even bought bottle brush to clean the hallow post area. Last but not least, we even bought commercial milk stone removal sanitizer product to clean and soak it time and time again. The smell still lingers! I used a $40 Cuisinart ice cream maker for years and never had such problem. The most frustrating thing is the response from Whytner. The customer service was not helpful. Her response was literally "well, I have never heard of this before" and "You can buy another canister." I tried to point out to her that the smell comes from the plastic post in the middle and how we tried to cleaned it. Her response was "the canister is aluminum." Talking to her felt like a big waste of time. At the end, she filed a report, not sure what that will lead to ultimately. But it does not matter much now. Will never buy anything from this brand again.
