Nice Feature - Basin Locks to the Pedestal
I ordered this birdbath on Amazon after looking locally and not finding one that I wanted.
Pros:
Unlike less expensive models, the basin locks to the pedestal - there are "ears" on the basin that fit the pedestal and then you turn it 90 degress to lock. This will prevent the basin from blowing off the pedestal in high winds.
Depth of the water in the center of the basin is almost 3".
The bird bath is virtually encased in styrofoam in the shipping box and was received undamaged (including the two birds).
The two molded birds are features only found on more expensive bird bath basins.
Cons:
I expected the turquoise to be brighter than it actually is; it is actually more muted greenish-turquoise. And the porcelain finish is designed to look "distressed" - the clear glazing has faux "fracture lines" and the coloring is missing on some spots only exposing the base brown clay material.
March 6, 2015 Update- After a little more than a year of usage we disposed of this birdbath in the trash. The glazing started to lift at the bottom of the bowl and was seeping out. I believe it was due to the faux "fracture lines" that allowed water to get under the glazing. Also, one of the birds fell off and had to be glued on again. We found a nice replacement at a Fry's grocery store in Tucson for less than $40, but no birds on the edge.
