Quality Control Issues and False Label Claims
I wanted to like this product, but there are some concerning issues with the quality control that need to be pointed out to the less informed customers here... 1. They claim to use tapioca capsules on their label under the trade name of "PlantCaps" which are produced by Capsugel. However, what they are actually using in this product is NOT PlantCaps, but instead your standard Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC) capsules (aka Vcaps). PlantCaps are a premium capsule, and something I go out of my way to find in supplements as not many companies use them. How do I know this? Plantcaps have a distinguishable 'shiny' appearance, whereas your garden variety HPMC capsule have a matte finish on the capsule and have a slight haze. The DailyNutra capsules have a matte finish and the slight haze, typical of HPMC. So they are falsely claiming something on the label that they are not using in the product. 2. Their capsules do NOT have the claimed content that appears on the label. I tested multiple capsules on a precision balance scale (accurate to 1mg), and all came out at 540-555mg per capsule, where their label clearly states 605mg per capsule. This is referred to as slack filling, and it shows they have no quality control in their manufacturing process. Here's the thing... #1 is concerning on it's own, because it shows a willful intent to deceive, or is reflective of quality controls that are so sloppy that 'anything goes.' But, in combination with #2, this clearly demonstrates that quality product is not their priority, despite the use of branded ingredients. Im not impressed. Buyer beware.
