Did Not Work Out of The Box!!! Possible "Grey Market" Item
After reading many reviews I decided to purchase the Fissler Vitaquick. I purchased it from Stoney Creek Shops and it was fulfilled by Amazon. I got the cooker and read the instructions. I noticed the booklet had a cover that said Vitaquick UL but the instructions referred to a Vitavit. The instructions also referred to changing the "control setting to position 2" and "traffic light system". I thought this was unusual but I figured it was just the way Germans did things. I washed it and tried to cook some dinner. When the water heated up steam began to escape from the Eurovalve under the handle and the pressure indicator never rose to one or two lines. I stopped cooking, took it apart, cleaned it, and made sure everything was in working order. Tried again and still had a steam leak from the Eurovalve. I called the customer service number in the manual and got a lady who asked me who I bought the pressure cooker from . I told her Amazon but when I told her Stoney Creek Shops and it was supplied by Amazon, she said she would have to see if they were an approved retailer. If they were, she said she would call me back and send me a new valve. What?!
First, I just paid $300 for this pressure cooker and it doesn't work! Second, what if Stoney Creek Shops is not an "approved retailer"?! I checked online and found a Vitavit pressure cooker but it looks like it is sold in Europe. The USA gets the Vitaquick. All this points to the possibility this may be a "grey market" product. It is made for another country and imported to the USA outside Fissler's dealer channels. This may not be a bad thing if the pressure cooker were less costly and obviously worked, but I suspect they may tell me to send/call some other country or Stoney Creek Shops for Warranty work!! The other thing is, this may not be genuine Fissler product. The manual isn't even correct.... I am returning this to Amazon. I'll have to think about where I will purchase a new pressure cooker from next time. Williams Sonoma and Crate and Barrel sell Fissler products as well. I noticed one or two other reviewers noticed the quirky manual also. They may be in the same boat as me.

I got a response from Fissler's customer service and here is what they said, "Unfortunately, Stoney Creek Shops is one of our unauthorized dealers. I recommend that you contact them for warranty issues or may purchase individual parts at [...]
So Fissler is saying they will not cover the warranty from an unauthorized dealer. That means your on your own!!!
