★☆☆☆☆
The Wheel of Time story in name only.
Rafe has taken a story that already had elements of equality and shredded it like the studio read the footnotes of the stories for a school assignment and decided they could do better than the author. These are not the characters from the novels, just people acting as them in the story.
The characters, as written, have been changed into 2021's woke political environment. We open, spoiler, to Aes Sedai commentary on the filthiness of men. Then they, with such woke fervor, say the Dragon Reborn could be male or female. There are reasons why some elements of the story are they way they are. Read the books.
The books handle the equality of the sexes well on their own. There is a taint on Saidin for a reason, and that's why the story flows the way it does. The female characters are already empowered, and in some sense in the setting, women are more powerful than men.
This adaptation is inane drivel. Read the books, skip the adaptation. Apparently there is no way to visually adapt a written novel without changing the entire story to fit the current day political environment.
