★★☆☆☆
Contains Soy Lecithin
Please note that if you are soy sensitive, you should always be alert for the presence of *any* soy compound, and do not "buy in" to the notion of soy lecithin not being the part that aggravates or activates your sensitivity-- or even worse, your allergy (if you experience soy to that extent.) Soy lecithin...what exactly is it? It's a food additive used as an emulsifier and is extracted from soybeans, using a solvent such as hexane; in short, a by-product of soybean oil. I feel there are too many issues surrounding both GMO soy (if it's not an organic soy, it's GMO in the United States) as well as something as alarming as hexane (involving food items, anyway.) I'm not trying to demonize Gaia's product; I've looked at the ingredients list for this capsule (elsewhere online, can't seem to find it here at Amazon)and outside of the presence of soy lecithin, it looks outstanding. But the soy in this product is not organic, hence it is GMO, and there is no indication that it is a soy lecithin that is NOT produced using hexane (because there are other methods.) However, doesn't it make you wonder... if a company is producing something for natural means of regulating a condition, why would they include such a questionable ingredient? And furthermore, if you, as the consumer, are not wanting to take pharmaceutical drugs, it would be an assumption (on my part, anyway) that you wouldn't want something as suspect as this because you are looking for something *healthy*, and there are plenty of more 'natural' emulsifiers out there available to supplement manufacturers! Please don't be afraid to contact the company and urge them to reformulate. In the meantime, I've moved past this product and looked into others. I am not going to take one supplement, which will only create a problem of a different type (in a different time frame, as well) and have to offset *it*! Gaia, please remove the soy lecithin from your otherwise outstanding product... please! There are SO MANY people out here with either soy sensitivity or soy allergies. And considering that thyroid supplements are often an adjunct to menopausal herbal supplementation, soy does NOT belong in a thyroid formulation.
