Was great but they changed it, now it's bad.
This is the Stanley Fat Max with adjustable legs. I am a contractor and have been for years. I know saw horses. In my opinion, these were the best saw horses you could get. They were expensive, but carried plenty of weight and were adjustable with a good wide stance. However...., that is no longer the case, some "rocket scientist" in Stanley's budget or manufacturing department came up with the "great" idea of decreasing the size of the folding shelf mechanism, I can only assume to save a nickel per unit. This decreases the width of the sawhorses stance when open in it's ready to use position. I have the old set, a freind has the new set, (also a contractor) the new design is tippy, awefully so. When using them as a sawing station or table, the entire set up will collapse if moving boards the wrong way(side to side). I tried using them as supports for ripping 20' pieces of pvc trim boards, I switched to the old style for fear of destroying an $80 board when the support tipped over durring the rip, like it did in the practice run. Not only tippy and frustrating, also downright dangerous. \ So there you have it - thanks to some "genius" that has never used a sawhorse in his life, wowing Stanley with what can only be a minor per unit production savings (it's all plastic), they now have a product that went from a 'must have' to 'avoid at all costs'. Do not buy. This new design will fall over on you again and again, and you will regret the purchase over and over.
