Book of the Living Dead: Zombie articles, once smart but deceased years ago
Very disappointing.
Krugman is a superb writer and analyst. But I was under the impression he had written a book.
No such thing. Merely a collection of very old old editorials assembled by topic.
There is predictably lots of overlap. But additionally, there is something fundamentally and intrinsically unappealing about rummaging through a dusty stack of 15-year-old articles. “Yesterday’s news” is an expression for a reason, and it does not equate to “riveting.”
As terrific as Krugman is, this is literally recycling, and should have been left in the blue bin. The title refers to ideas that should have died and keep scrambling back to life; alas, it also could refer to these long-dead articles that are weirdly lumbering back around the world under a shiny new cover.
