The VESA plate is attached to the articulating arm via a plastic washer. This washer allows for the rotation of the VESA plate and is also responsible for friction that holds the monitor into the desired rotated and tilted position. I installed three of these and the plastic washer broke on one of them, this resulted in my monitoring falling to the floor and breaking. I returned all three. The monitors did not pass the size or weight capacity for the wall mount but it still broke. I would not advise using this mount, especially if the monitor is above your head and could cause physical damage to a person.
