The biggest issue with this rain barrel is that you cannot open the top. This means you never know how much water is the in the barrel. This is an issue when the next rain comes. If it is full or near full, the barrel will overflow. You can't get into the barrel to clean it either. Bits of plant matter get thru the top screen and the water heats up in the sun and begins to smell. Another flaw is that there is only one outlet. When rain is pouring into the barrel, the one spigot is not enough to keep up with the flow and water spills out everywhere. I added another spigot near top, but it was not enough to keep the barrel from spilling and over flowing when the next rain came. I would seriously look for a better barrel that is designed to let you open the lid and clean it, and comes with a good overflow feature
