This item is dangerous. Beware and be careful. Never leave unattended. Upon my 1st use of this appliance, I placed a half full 6qt. pan of water on to boil. I walked away for a few minutes. My grandson started ring the ship's bell yelling FIRE. Not what I wanted to hear. I returned to find the temp. thermal switch smoking heavily. The base was burning hot, had I not placed on a fire proof surface it could have been disastrous. It' s possible mine was simply defective. But, then again................. I would never recommend this product.
