The acting is wooden, the dialogue is clunky, and the costuming looks amateurish. You'll get a pretty scene here or there, but it's all CGI. Given this cost a billion dollars, I'm surprised how little attention was paid to the quality of the practical effects. The writers also blatantly disrespect the canon. Which is ironic, since one could have been understanding of how limited their access to the source material is. However, it seems they ignore the material that they do have access to anyway. The most pressing issues being their lack of understanding of how Elven immortality works, as well as a rewriting of Galadriel and Elrond; it probably would have made more sense to swap their roles, since Galadriel was known to be ambitious and Elrond apolitical.
