Major flaws! (1) No way to have backlight always on and (2) no USB receiver
Very unhappy with this keyboard. It is going back and I will continue to look elsewhere for a slim TKL keyboard with backlight.
First issue: There is no way to have the backlight stay on, even plugged in with USB. The backlight will shut itself off randomly whenever the keyboard decides that you haven't typed enough or moved your fingers enough to trigger the motion sensor. It is super distracting when you are focusing on reading a document or something and suddenly the keyboard decides to shut itself off.
This is a known issue with the MX Keys keyboards that people have been complaining about for a long time. Logitech supposedly promises it will be fixed in firmware, but that hasn't happened in years. Logitech had a chance to fix this issue when they released this new keyboard, but they didn't.
Second issue: This keyboard has terrible connectivity. Right now, it can connect via Bluetooth (and nothing else) to windows. It can't use the USB charging cable like a wired keyboard. And for some reason known only to Logitech, this keyboard can't use the Logitech unifying USB receiver that other Logitech devices us. Supposedly, it can only use the new Bolt USB receiver, which isn't included in the package and hasn't even been released yet!
Most frustrating is that Logitech has the gall to charge the same price for the Keys Mini as they do for the full size Keys. The Mini has fewer keys, fewer connectivity options, and doesn't include a receiver. How is the world can it cost the same as its big brother??
