Think twice, not the same old Lansky your father had,,,,
I have several Lansky kits, 2 others the same model as this one. The "new" kits have a blade holder in them that is some of the poorest quality I have ever seen from Lansky. For many years, Lansky was my go to. The new blade holder is stamped and bent, the old one was machined and very stout. The old one has clearly marked inclinations marked on it, the new style is on the wrong side and hard to read. The main torque screw to tighten the blade into the holder was not threaded all the way through and therefore could not be tightened. I have a tap set and finished tapping the hole through the holder. The torque screw has been forced into the incomplete hole, damaging the screw shaft. I had a #10-24T screw in my junk box, so I used that. One of the guide legs was overbent so it would not hold a correct angle. Thankfully, it did not break when I corrected the angle. So before you buy another Lansky, take heed knowing that if you have an older kit, don't expect the new one to look, feel or function the same. The quality just isn't there anymore. Pictures are attached. The old holder (obviously) is the one on the left.
