The handle is a consumable (?!?!?)
The part where the mop handle connects to the main body of the mop snapped off yesterday (cheap plastic...just like most of the mop). I read the warranty. It says that "...this product to be free from defects in material and workmanship..." for one year. I was well within that year, so I called Euro-Pro's Customer Service number. After spending WAY too much time trying to understand, and be understood by, "Grace" (sitting in some call center in beautiful downtown New Delhi, I am sure), she finally figured out what part was broken. Then told me it would cost me $29.95!!! I reminded her that the mop was still under warranty (thinking that maybe it was a language thing). Her response? The handle is a "replacement part" and not covered under the warranty(!). Since it was still able to steam, I would have to buy a new handle. I asked her if she had purchased a new car with a 3 year warranty and the doors fell off if she would consider taking the car back? Her response was to say that "just this once" she would send me the part for free. Euro-Pro really puts the "cuss" in "customer service"! DO NOT BUY!!!
Update: (Dec 18th, 2010) No mop handle almost a month later. I called same number and spoke with "Jo". After eventually finding my account info, I was informed that my mop handle was on back order and that I needed to call their main office in Canada. Woohoo! I am going from India to Canada toll free! Still not sure why "Jo" who is a customer service rep for Shark/Euro-Pro knows that it this part is on back order, but says I must call Euro-Pro's main office in Quebec, Canada. For those that would like to cut out the middle man/woman in India, Euro-Pro's "main office" phone number is: 800.361.4639.
