Comfortable But Smells Toxic...
It's very comfortable but after sleeping for 6 hrs, I woke up with heart palpitations and slept on the couch. The topper emits a strong chemical odor. Airing the topper for a day had no noticeable effect. It's kind of like water in a sponge, you have to squeeze it or rub it on something to get it out. Sleeping on it did both and I'm sure that breathing in the chemicals and rubbing them on my skin can't be good. If you visit the manufacture web site (http://www.memoryfoamsolutions.com) you won't find any info on the chemicals in this product or how to remove them. In fact, you can't even find the company address, phone number or email. The links to their privacy policy, terms and conditions, and social media sites don't work. Clearly, the company is avoiding being contacted or addressing the chemicals in their product. A company rep contacted me and assured me that there was nothing toxic in the topper. That's easy to say but I wanted something in writing so he sent me an MSDS sheet. However the sheet was for "Polyurethane Foam" by a company called Foamex International. I have no proof that the sheet in question was for this product. Since I own a company and have had employees that sprayed two-part polyurethane foam insulation, I am well aware of the dangerous chemicals that exist while creating the foam and the off-gassing that occurs in the finished product. The MSDS sheets I have for the two base components of spray foam both clearly list several dangerous chemicals and prescribe many precautions for handling the components. I find it hard to believe that this product is much different from the finished product we created using the dangerous chemicals. However, I'm sure that once the fumes escape the product, that it's much safer. Unfortunately, these toppers do not appear to have been aired out in the factory before being vacuum sealed and shipped. Since air does not quickly move through foam, I had to devise a method of my own to suck the fumes out before trying this topper again on my bed.
