Polyutherane NOT SAFE for infant/toddler sleep
So, I was very sad to give this mattress a 1 star because my 15 month old loved it and yes, slept better on it. It is soft and yummy and delicious. HOWEVER! When I unpacked it and let it "breathe" it had a very strong odor. After about 48 hours I decided to put it over my sons crib and for the next couple of nights the odor was so strong, it filled up the room. I began to get concerned. I decided to do some research into Polyutherane mattresses and it turns out that even though this mattress has a certification backing its "safety" I could not find anywhere in the mattress tags, nor on the manufacturers website, the exact materials used in making this product. Turns out, companies aren't required to legally disclose the materials. Further research, I found that Polyutherane is considered "Toxic" and can have an array of effects on a tiny human. I decided to remove it as fast as I could and replaced it with an organic 100% wool mattress topper. It is not as soft but safety first. I really wanted to love this, but I am so glad I looked into it further.
