This book is a melodrama. So full of trite statements that are supposed to be dramatic, like Marriage is a strange thing, or Loyalty is a complicated thing. Over and over again. I got so sick of reading about hockey. Comparing hockey to rape was disgusting. A mother who counts her two children every night at bedtime but does not even go into the daughter’s room for days when she is sick and suffering? I hated the ending. I loved A Man Called Ove but was sorry I got into this one.
