Too Many Red Flags for me
I’m a pro in the beauty industry and have worked in tv & film for the past 13 years. This palette is without a doubt a dupe to a famous brand, but not completely identical and there’s some MAJOR red flags. Yes, just like the big brand some of the colors will stain your skin. The colors are relatively the same, they’re both incredibly pigmented, the packaging is the same, but the quality is different. The most notable difference is in the formula of the texture. And this should raise concern with everyone. This product melting heat point is NOT the same, meaning the point at which it turns from a solid state to a more blendable greasy texture. It broke down much easier when I was testing it. Although the product is pigmented, the color performance is NOT the same. It’s most notable in the metallic gold and silver. The real palette is manufactured in Belgium, when you look at this label, there is NO INFORMATION of where it is produced. After looking into the other products the seller has on Amazon, it appears to be primarily products produced in China. Now I have no way of confirming that this product is from China, this is just my expert opinion after working in the cosmetics industry for over a decade. So what’s the big deal? It looks like the real thing, it performs like the real thing, and it’s so much cheaper, what’s not to love? If it’s not labeled where it’s manufactured, you should consider you might be purchasing something that could be potentially be harmful. I can understand you can get excited over scoring a “deal” or dupe like this. To use a product like this for creating Cosplay or Halloween characters especially after trying to create the look with cheap makeup that lacks pigment often sold in seasonal costumes stores, I do understand how it would seem like the right choice to purchase this. Maybe I’m wrong and it is completely safe, but the potential of unregulated cosmetics is NOT something I’m willing to test on my face. I’m not stating that this product is unsafe. I just want people to understand there’s a potential for unregulated ingredients coming from untrustworthy sources. Just because a cosmetic product says it has the same ingredients on the label as the real deal it doesn’t mean that it is the case. Google the dangers of purchasing replica makeup from China and you will find dozens of news stories where they took the knockoffs to chemical labs and found dangerous levels of cyanide, lead, and mercury. I don’t have a lab for testing this, but think twice about saving some $$$ on makeup. You only get one face ladies and gents. Third party sellers like Amazon don’t allow replicas or knockoffs, but those replicas can still be branded with bogus labels and sold on third party sites. So then I looked into the company that is selling this product. Do they have a branded Official Page? NO, they are only selling through third party seller forums only. When I had the chance to receive this product at a discount in exchange for an honest review, I had to test it. Please use caution. And if all the points I have brought up haven’t raised enough concern, the sellers instructions first sentence states “All cosmetics can on rare occasions, cause allergic reactions .” I can’t think of one reputable brand that starts off application directions like that aside from hair dye.
