★☆☆☆☆
3rd set disappointment
Updated: You might reasonably wonder why I continued to buy this product after my last updated review. The fact of the matter was they were cheap enough to simply replace for aesthetic purposes. Unfortunately the key word here is "cheap." I'll let the new photos speak for themselves. As I was installing the new gorilla guards, torqueing them them to the manufacturer's specifications as the instructions say to do, the lugnut sheared off resulting in a broken locking lugnut I have no way of removing except to have the stud drilled out and replaced. Seriously, these things BROKE, sheared right off under torque. This job will a) be inconvenient and b) cost a lot of money to have performed. Needless to say this is it for me. I cannot use this brand any longer. Unbelievable pieces of rubbish.
As far as protection, I do believe these do a great job and are a superior option. But now in the 15th month of them being installed on the stock 20 inch rims on my Yukon, I noted that they are starting to change color (as in rust.) It's a shame, the wheels and factory lug nuts are quite sharp, and I really expected these to retain their chrome plating, however every one of the 4 are rusting. I have not yet contacted Gorilla to see if they will warrant them against corrosion. I am hoping that they will. They weren't expensive, but I would've paid double for a product that didn't rust. I will try to report Gorilla's response when I contact them about possible replacement. I have two other sets on other vehicles, but they are strictly summer cars. I hope they don't start corroding as well. 5 stars for perceived effectiveness, 1 star for long term quality, 3 stars average.
