★☆☆☆☆
Perfectly boring and humorless... feels like a joke without a punchline
I kept thinking this book was supposed to be funny. Imagine Seinfeld without the humor or satire, acting, or a likeable character of any sort. Then add in tons of incredibly detailed scenes, cliched characters, and the same ideas being portrayed over, and over, and over... bludgeoned by the boringly rich and famous and their sycophants. At the point I DNF'd, I had done my DNF Hail Mary, which is to jump forward close to the end to see if anything funny or remotely interesting was happening. If a book piques my interest at that point, I'll jump back to where I was to complete the book. And that happens sometimes. However, my Hail Mary jumped me into the middle of what seemed to be a graphic voyeuristic groping scene, so I just stopped and deleted the book. At that point, I had read around 25-30% before my jump forward in my search to find a reason to continue. (It might have been further in, but I can't check the specific point because I deleted the book from my account immediately.) Overall, I think this book was supposed to be funny or satirical. Maybe you have to have been a Personal Assistant to get the jokes. As always, your mileage may vary.
