The app itself works great. In a lot of ways, it is better than the desktop application. You can push through the lessons quickly on a tablet and the voice recognition on tablets seems to work really well. That's where the good traits end. I spent a lot of money on levels 1-5 (the French desktop application). 3 months of "online" access were included. That means in 3 months, I can't use this app anymore unless I pay even more money to access the features and course progress I have already paid for in the desktop version. If you're going to go with Rosetta Stone for learning another language, it's a great program. But don't count on being able to readily use this app. I believe you need another, separate subscription for any other languages you're learning (and have likely already paid for). The subscription is annual, so you will have to resubscribe every year if you plan on taking more than a year to learn the language or just want to brush up on your skills. Unless you're willing to pony up more dough for the subscription or just go with the online access itself and be willing to let that expire at some point, save yourself the trouble and get the desktop version. It's expensive, but it's also pretty good. Either that or, depending on the language, try something that is absolutely free like Duolingo first (also very good).
