Right now the manuscript looks like it's one long paragraph
Unfortunately this is typical of self-published "authors." They don't want to take the time to learn their craft and have their book edited. One doesn't need a professional editor - just a trusted friend who will read over the manuscript for typos, misspellings, etc. First of all,INDENT the manuscript five spaces! This is standard industry practice. Right the manuscript looks like it's one long paragraph. Get a good thesaurus and use it! Many many redundant words in this story. Learn the facts! It is IMPOSSIBLE to ascertain the "exact" time of death unless someone witnesses the crime. There are simply too many variables. Note to "author." get the excellent non-fiction books by Dr.D.P. Lyle. Hes' a forensic pathologist and states in his book that it's impossible to tell the time of death up to five hours either way! But, most importantly - edit the damn book! At one point the gorgeous and extremely intelligent main character "gets up from her chair and smooths the wrinkles out of her slacks." Two paragraphs later, "she slid to the edge of her chair...." Stuff like that drives me nuts. Such sloppy work should never have been published.
